Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 6-inch round cake pans thoroughly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together ½ cup of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1 cup of milk, and mix until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, beat 1 cup of softened butter in a mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  9. Add 2-3 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and increase the speed to medium-high. Beat until fluffy.
  10. If desired, tint the frosting with food coloring to match your theme.
  11. Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second cake on top.
  12. Use the remaining frosting to cover the top and sides of the cake.
  13. Finally, decorate the cake with fresh fruits, edible flowers, and chocolate shavings as desired.
