Air Fryer Churros are a delightful twist on the classic Spanish treat that everyone loves. With their crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior, these churros are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. Traditionally deep-fried, air frying offers a healthier alternative without sacrificing flavor or texture.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Chocolate sauce for dipping
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a dough forms, about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the dough from the heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Add the egg and mix thoroughly until completely incorporated.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. Pipe long strips of dough onto parchment paper, cutting them into 6-inch lengths.
Place the churros in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch each other. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
While the churros are cooking, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Once cooked, immediately roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
Serve warm with chocolate sauce for dipping if desired.
