Ingredients
Scale:
2 ¼ teaspoons (one packet) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
¾ cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 bunch asparagus (approximately 10-12 spears)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup crumbled goat cheese (or feta for a stronger flavor)
Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the olive oil and yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms, then knead it until smooth.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
Roast the Asparagus: Trim the woody ends of the asparagus and cut them into 2-inch pieces. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 10-12 minutes.
Make the White Sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute. Whisk in the flour and cook for another minute.
Gradually add milk, whisking constantly. Cook until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency, around 5-7 minutes. Stir in salt, pepper, nutmeg, and parmesan cheese.
Assemble the Pizza: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
