A refreshing twist on the classic homemade lemonade, infusing it with sweet and tangy flavors of fresh blueberries.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup fresh blueberries, plus extra for garnish
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
4 cups water (divided into 1 cup for blueberry puree and 3 cups for the lemonade)
Ice for serving
Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh blueberries and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the blueberries have burst and released their juices. Stir occasionally to help the process along.
Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the blueberry mixture into a bowl, discarding the solids. Set the vibrant blueberry juice aside.
In a large pitcher, combine 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add the reserved blueberry juice to the pitcher, along with 3 cups of cold water. Mix well to combine.
Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness if necessary, adding more sugar if desired.
To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the Blueberry Lemonade over the top. Garnish each glass with fresh blueberries and a slice of lemon if desired.
