Ingredients
Scale:
For the Pizza Dough:
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 teaspoon sugar
¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Homemade BBQ Sauce:
1 cup ketchup
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Pizza Toppings:
1 ½ cups cooked grilled chicken, shredded
1 cup red onions, thinly sliced
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Additional BBQ sauce for drizzling
Instructions
Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes or until bubbly.
Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
Prepare the BBQ sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all BBQ sauce ingredients. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened.
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
Roll out the dough: Once risen, punch it down and roll it out to your desired thickness.
Add the sauce: Spread a generous layer of BBQ sauce over the pizza dough.
Layer the toppings: Top the pizza with shredded grilled chicken, red onions, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese.
Bake the pizza: Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes.
Garnish: Remove from the oven and drizzle additional BBQ sauce over the top, then sprinkle with fresh cilantro.
