Originating from Japan, edamame—young soybeans—have become a global favorite, celebrated for their protein content and versatility. This recipe elevates traditional edamame by introducing chili lime seasoning, making it an exciting appetizer for gatherings, movie nights, or a healthy snack on-the-go.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound of fresh or frozen edamame in pods
Water for boiling
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed for best flavor)
1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust according to spice preference)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Optional: Pinch of cayenne pepper for extra heat
Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
Lime wedges for garnish
Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
Add the edamame pods to the boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the pods are tender but still firm.
Drain the edamame in a colander and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lime juice, chili powder, garlic powder, sea salt, and optional cayenne pepper. Mix well.
Add the drained edamame to the bowl with the chili lime seasoning and toss gently until evenly coated.
Let the seasoned edamame sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
Transfer the Chili Lime Spicy Edamame to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley and lime wedges on the side. Serve immediately.
