Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1/4 cup buttermilk
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder until combined.
In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and buttermilk until smooth.
Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
While the brownies are cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
Once the brownies have cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
