This Italian-American classic is not just about the flavors; it's about the experience of sharing a meal that brings people together in laughter and joy. The name itself suggests romance and commitment, making it an ideal centerpiece for a special dinner.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and pork)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (use fresh)
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tablespoons dried parsley)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic and herb seasoning
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and garlic and herb seasoning. Mix until just combined.
Form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 70°C).
While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, dried basil, and sugar. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Once the meatballs are finished baking, gently transfer them into the skillet with the creamy tomato sauce. Simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.
Serve the Marry Me Meatballs hot, garnished with additional parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan if desired.
