Matcha lattes have taken the beverage world by storm, cherished for their vibrant color, unique flavor, and extensive health benefits. Originating from Japan, this creamy drink incorporates matcha green tea, a finely ground powder made from specially grown green tea leaves.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
2 ounces hot water (around 175°F) for hot latte
8 ounces milk (dairy or non-dairy, like almond milk)
1-2 teaspoons sweetener (like honey or maple syrup, optional)
2 ounces cold water for iced latte
Ice cubes for iced latte
Instructions
Sift 1 tablespoon of matcha green tea powder into a bowl to break up any clumps.
For a hot matcha latte, add 2 ounces of hot water (not boiling) to the bowl and whisk vigorously until frothy. For an iced matcha latte, combine the matcha with 2 ounces of cold water and whisk until dissolved.
If making a hot matcha latte, heat 8 ounces of your chosen milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling. For an iced version, pour the milk over ice.
Slowly pour the milk into the matcha mixture, stirring gently. Add sweetener if desired.
Use a frother to aerate the mixture for a creamy texture.
Pour the final mixture into a cup, garnishing with a sprinkle of matcha powder for iced matcha.
