Ingredients
Scale:
8 slices of day-old Italian bread, cubed
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
1 cup diced bell peppers
1 cup chopped fresh spinach
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the cubed Italian bread, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and heavy cream until fully combined. Pour this mixture over the bread and cheese mixture and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Incorporate the cooked sausage, bell peppers, and spinach into the bread mixture. Gently fold until evenly distributed.
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Cut into squares and enjoy!
