Ingredients
Scale:
1 box of white or yellow cake mix
3 large eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 box of fruit-flavored jello (choose a variety of colors, such as strawberry, orange, lime, and blue raspberry)
4 cups boiling water (1 cup for each jello flavor)
2 cups whipped cream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
Colorful sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix according to the package instructions until well blended and smooth.
Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
After the cake has cooled completely, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface of the cake, about 1 inch apart.
In separate bowls, dissolve each box of jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
Carefully pour each jello mixture over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes. Alternate colors to create a rainbow effect. Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
Once the jello is set, spread the whipped cream frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
If desired, add colorful sprinkles on top of the whipped cream frosting for an extra festive touch.
