A delightful appetizer that combines crunch and flavor, featuring a crispy coating seasoned with salt and pepper to enhance the shrimp's natural sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 large egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Your choice of dipping sauces (sweet chili, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo)
Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish
Instructions
Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
In another bowl, beat the egg until smooth and set aside.
Prepare breadcrumbs in a shallow dish.
Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Carefully add shrimp to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Remove cooked shrimp and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Garnish with cilantro or green onions and serve with dipping sauces.
