1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice), adjust based on your spice tolerance
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure a proper cooking environment for the cod.
Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
Season the cod fillets with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Make sure to coat both sides evenly to enhance the flavor and ensure a balanced taste throughout the dish.
Place the seasoned cod fillets in the prepared baking dish, arranging them in a single layer for even cooking.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned, as burnt garlic can turn bitter.
Stir in the lemon juice and red pepper flakes, if using, allowing the mixture to bubble slightly.
Pour the garlic butter sauce over the cod fillets, ensuring they are well-coated.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cod is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Once done, remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
