  1. Begin by preparing your fresh ingredients. Dice the pineapple into small, bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Next, finely chop the red onion and add it to the bowl with the pineapple.
  3. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño peppers to control the heat level, then finely chop them and add to the mix.
  4. Chop the fresh cilantro and add it to the bowl.
  5. Squeeze the juice of one lime into the mixing bowl.
  6. Sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, and cumin if using. Stir all the ingredients gently until well combined.
  7. For an extra creamy texture, fold in diced avocado and diced red bell pepper if desired.
  8. Allow the salsa to marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
